Tuesday September 28

Learn the Greek alphabet...practice writing and pronouncing all letters (concentrate on the lower-case letters); work on pronunciation of diphthongs. Practice with the Drills on p. 11, sections I.1-18 (at least) and all of II and III. Sign up for quizlet.com, and join the Slug Greek group. If you have trouble with this, send me an email! You may be asked in class to write the Greek alphabet from memory...be ready to do so!

Thursday September 30

Reread Unit 1 through section 14; practice for the first declension quiz; sample here.

Tuesday October 5

Reread Introduction Section 10 on Persistent Accent and reread Unit 1; make sure you know first and second declension endings (both M/F and N). Be ready for a quiz. Learn the vocab for Unit 1. Finish Drill IV 10-18 (if you didn't do so in class).

Thursday October 7

Learn vocab from Units 1. Finish Greek-to-English and English-to-Greek exercises in Unit 1. Prepare for quiz on forms of the definite article.

Tuesday October 12

Reread Unit 2; learn the present, imperfect, future, and aorist endings. Review vocab from units 1 and 2. Do Unit 2 Drill II. If you haven't already, join quizlet.com and find and join the "Slug Greek" group: http://quizlet.com/group/42514/

Thursday October 14

Reread Unit 2; quiz on principal parts from verbs in Unit 2. Unit 2 Exercise I, odd sentences only. Test coming on Tuesday!

Tuesday October 19

Test on vocab, noun declension, principal parts, and Greek-to-English sentences to translate...plus extra credit English-to-Greek.

Thursday October 21

Reread the beginning of Unit 3 (don't go on to the subjunctive and optative), and study vocab. Do Drill 1 a and b. Learn all the vocab from unit 3, and master the perfect and pluperfect indicative and all the subjunctive and optative endings.

Tuesday October 26

Finish the Greek-toEnglish exercises from Unit 3; practice verb synopses (see p. 78 of the text, or use the following blank chart (only the "active" side): verb synopsis. Make sure you know all vocab from Units 1-3, including principal parts of all verbs.

Thursday October 28

MIDTERM through Unit 3. Vocab; noun forms; principal parts; verb synopsis (using one of the 4 verbs in Unit 2); Greek-to-English sentences; English-to-Greek extra credit. Similar toTest 1, but with a verb synopsis added.

Tuesday November 2

Reread Unit 4 on the new kinds of 1st declension nouns and on adjectives and know the forms; do Unit 4 Drills 1-3.

Finish Drill V and do the Greek-to-English sentences assigned in class: 1,3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 25

On Thursday we will have a verb synopsis quiz on present, imperfect, future, aorist, perfect, and pluperfect indicative, present and aorist subjuncives and optatives, and present, aorist, and perfect infinitives active and passive. I will use one of the four verbs from Unit 2, or παύω.
