Wednesday, July 9: Reading The Parnas
The Parnas is an extraordinary tale of a Jewish lay leader in Pisa, Italy during the Nazi occupation. Silvano Arieti, the author,was a psychiatrist who emigrated to the United States before WW II, in January, 1939.He was the author of several books on psychiatry (see Bibliography) and wrote one with his son, James Arieti, Love Can Be Found. James was a participant in the NEH Institute and reported on his father's book, The Parnas.
