Texts
The only texts you'll need are
which are available at the Literary Gullotine. A variety of other books (translations, texts with commentaries, and secondary sources) have been put on reserve at McHenry.
Class Requirements
Be in class every time, on time, with all assignments prepared. We will have two tests (containing seen and sight passages for translation) and a final exam (on Wednesday, December 8 from 4-7 p.m.) containing seen and sight passages for translation and essay questions. Each student will prepare a 10-page paper; an abstract with bibliography will be due in about the fifth week of the course, a rough draft in the seventh week, and the final draft on the last day of class. Students will be required to participate in a peer-editing process; work on others' drafts will count toward your own final paper grade. Quarter grades will be based on the final paper (20%), tests (25%), final (25%), and class participation and preparedness (30%).
Assignments will also be posted regularly on our assignments page.
