- September 26 Learn the Greek alphabet...practice writing and pronouncing all letters (concentrate on the lower-case letters); work on pronunciation of diphthongs. Here's an audio file of the alphabet. Practice with the Drills on p. 11, sections I.1-18 (at least) and all of II and III. Here's an audio file of those pronunciation drills. Sign up for quizlet.com, and join the Slug Greek group. If you have trouble with this, send me an email! You may be asked in class to write the Greek alphabet from memory...be ready to do so! The audio files are also available for download via eCommons; this way, if you have a mac and iTunes, they should play automatically via iTunes.
- September 28 Reread Unit 1 through section 14; do Unit 1 Drill I.1-10 and Drill III.2; practice for the first declension quiz; sample here.
- September 30 Reread Unit 1 through section 16.2; do Unit 1 Drill I.11-25 and Drill II, also adding the correct form of the definite article to each non; practice for a second declension quiz (words I can use are those on page 26: ο λογος, ο ανθρωπος, ο αδελφος, η νησος, το δωρον; be ready to accent them properly and add the articles. - October 3 Unit 1 Drill 4 and Greek-to-English Exercises
- October 5 Unit 1 English-to-Greek Exercises; prepare for quiz on Unit 1 vocabulary
- October 7 Read Unit 2 and learn Unit 2 vocab (pay attention to those principal parts); do Unit 1 Drill II. Sample Unit 2 Principal Parts quiz here; we'll have one of these quizzes next week.
- October 10 Do Unit 2 Drill III and prep for a principal parts quiz!!!
- October 12 Finish Unit 2 exercises, and we'll have that principal parts quiz.
- October 14 Verb conjugation quiz; sample here. Begin studying the perfect and pluperfect forms in Unit 3 and master the Unit 3 vocabulary, including the vocab notes. On Friday we will go over the Greek-to-English from Unit 2, so bring that as well.
- October 17 Learn new verb forms and Unit 3 Drill II.
- October 19 Quiz Friday on all the noun forms through Unit 4, so start making your peace with everything up through the middle of page 89; do Unit 3 Exercises 1, 3, 7, 8, 9, 14, 16, 17, and 20. Learn new Unit 4 vocab, making sure to really read those vocab notes.
- October 21 Quiz on all the noun forms we know...first and second declension, masculine, feminine, and neuter. See pp. 623-4 of the appendix. Sample (much longer than the real thing...I've included all the nouns you need to know, but will choose only two or three for the quiz) here. Do Unit 4 Exercises 2, 4, 8, 11, 12, and 13.
- October 24 Quiz on the conditional chart on page 97; chart here; sample quiz here. Do Unit 4 Exercises 1, 5, 6, 15, and make sure you have all Unit 1-4 vocabulary mastered.
- October 26 Learn Unit 5 vocab; reread Unit 5 through page 124, and learn forms (big verb synopsis quiz on Friday). Do Drill III odds.
